The Seat Post on a BMX bike is the part that holds your seat to your frame. Now I know what your thinking... Cant be to complicated? And you'd be right on the whole. Theres 3 types of Seat Post on the market that correspond to a particular seating system. The first and by far the most popular is Pivotal. Most companies produce Pivotal Seat Posts. They are used in conjunction with a Pivotal Seat and provide a sturdy simple solution to BMX seating. The second type is Tripod. Invented by Spanish company Fly Bikes, the Tripod seating system has quickly become a second favourite to some. With its sturdy yet lightweight construction, Tripod Seat Posts are now readily available from most manufacturers to correspond with your Tripod Seat. The final type of BMX Seat Post available is Railed. These are a traditional seating system thats existed for what seems an age. The seat features 2 rails on the underside that the Railed Post holds onto.
Finally, the only other thing you need to look for is what Diameter seat post your looking for. Most freestyle BMX bikes (the majority of what we sell) will have a 25.4mm seat post. This accounts for at least 80% of BMX bikes, so if in doubt and your willing to take a gamble this is what you should get. Aluminum BMX race bikes as well as Mountain Bikes on the other hand being alloy can take a variety of different sizes. 22.2mm, 25.4mm, 26.8mm, 27mm, 27.2mm, 30mm, 30.9mm, 31.6mm are the main other sizes available.
